J. Thomas Davis Guitar Maker - Handmade Guitars

J. Thomas Davis individually designs and builds acoustic guitars one instrument at a time. Tom performs all of the work on his handmade guitars himself. Each instrument is built for a specific customer; each designed with a specific set of goals in mind.

In general, the materials selected , as well as the shape and size of the body, are contingent upon the sound characteristics desired by the customer. The width of fingerboard, string spacing, scale length, and the shape of the neck are specified by the customer.

Prices are dependent upon the various materials used as well as the specific work that is required to accomplish the customer’s objectives. The waiting list is 12 - 16 months.

Steel-string flattop guitars	$4,000 - $ 6,000
Twelve string guitars	$4,500 - $ 6,500
Classical guitars	$4,500 - $ 8,000
Archtop guitars	$7,000 - $10,000

Carved top Irish citterns and flattop Irish bouzoukis are also available.
